Dasuno for Huber & Lerner

Huber & Lerner began its collaboration with the agency Dasuno, which has lasted for 10 years, with a unique Christmas collection. The extraordinary gift wrapping paper and Christmas cards from this cooperation offer an exciting mix of tradition with youthful design.

The First "Dasuno für Huber & Lerner" Christmas Collection in 2006

The connection between the present and the past is expressed in the combination of the materials and printing techniques: especially the manually demanding and almost forgotten art of stamp embossing and the traditional laid paper combination, in which Huber & Lerner has prided itself for generations. Dasuno put these together with illustrations and drawings in a very exciting way. The mixture of old and new gave this first “Dasuno für Huber & Lerner” Limited Edition a freshness and festiveness, making it an ideal addition to our current range.

Nutcracker and Squirrels (2007)

The Christmas collection creations for 2007 combines tradition and modern spirit in its wrapping paper, Christmas cards, gift tags and gift vouchers in Christmas tones of silver and petrol blue. Classic Christmas motifs such as stags and nutcrackers come together with elements of Planet of the Apes. Handicrafted perfection: the voucher with hot-foil embossing.

"Pimp my Packerl" in 2008

“Pimp my Packerl” is the maxim the agency Dasuno chose for the Christmas paper collection for 2008. A pink winter landscape with fawns, birds, cats and bears cutting a Christmas tree, as well as a blue lake landscape with ice skating polar bears, squirrels and dancing hedgehogs, is designed to inspire daydreams. This animal world can be brought to life with just a few snips of some scissors and the animal figures can be cut out and stuck on a present. This enables each gift to be decorated in a unique, individual way. This collection won two much prized Venus trophies at the CCA Gala.

Wrapping Paper with Added Value "Mehrwert" (2009)

This extraordinary 2009 wrapping paper is an all-in-one packaging, decoration and gift tag paper, and features envelopes and paper sacks for the first time. Especially cute: the fawn and bird motifs in the collection. The motifs can also be cut out of small cards and displays and stuck on the paper to decorate every gift package individually. This collection was awarded at the CCA Gala.

 

Pimp my Packerl (2010)

The designers at the agency Dasuno presented this Christmas paper collection under the motto “Pimp my Packerl”. The paper displays animals, love stories in the forest and scenes from a festive meal in close resemblance to Alice in Wonderland. The collection also includes cards. The letterpress technique was used for the first time on the cards, which were decorated using selected motifs from the paper. The high printing relief created by this most traditional of printing methods gives stationery a three-dimensional fullness and is currently going through a Renaissance. This collection won a CCA Venus trophy in the category Illustration.

The Anniversary Edition "Dasuno für Huber & Lerner" (2011)

The sixth Christmas collection was presented on the 110th anniversary of Huber & Lerner, again in collaboration with the advertising agency Dasuno, at exactly the right time for the festivities. The extraordinary gift paper is wrapping and decoration in one and includes new, innovative greetings cards to put together yourself. The collection has both traditional techniques and materials with a new twist. For example, modern illustrations were laser cut from classical laid paper cards.  The three cards were the highlight of the collection. The matching card linings can be used to send individual greetings in the style of the sender. This collection was awarded at the CCA Gala.

Black and Gold (2012)

The wrapping paper is in festive black and gold and has motifs of elegant festivities and a lovingly decorated Christmas table. The matching 3-D cardboard figures, printed in letterpress, which can be put together by hand, can be used as gift tags or be put on pictures on the wrapping paper -- creating small, Christmas stories – an interaction  between the paper and the tags. There are matching cards made of cardboard with original motifs, matching the extravagant paper. This collection won the 2013 CCA Venus trophy in the category Illustration, the Silver Joseph Binder Award 2014 and was mentioned in Lürzer's 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide 2014/2015.

Paper Cutouts in Lasercut (2013)

This collection from the year 2013 centred on fun animal figures, in addition to classical flower motifs. Artistic paper processing meets modern photography in an elegant and trendy design. Fine 3-D laser-cutting is combined with elegant photography for the first time this year. A layout from thousands of laser-cut illustrations was created, which was then photographed. The printed paper has a motif of cut paper – paper on paper, a reflection on good, old-fashioned craftsmanship. The motifs are reminiscent of fine excellence and historic paper cutouts, which have moved into the modern world of graphic design.

 

Christmas Circus in Pastels (2014)

A cheeky mix of quotes from the world of the travelling circus and modern illustrations, this paper puts you in the mood for giving and packing. The colours, printed on both sides – pink, nude and soft, green pastel tones with fresh colour ascents—stem from coloured photos from the period around 1900. The four different sheets of paper can be combined easily and contain small elements to cut out and use as decoration. The matching gift tags were printed in letterpress by Huber & Lerner with silver hot, foil embossing and gave the collection a special haptic feeling. This collection combines traditional printing craftsmanship with modern design in a wonderful manner. This collection won the 2015 CCA Venus trophy in the category Illustration and was mentioned in Lürzer's 200 Best Packaging Design Worldwide 2015/2016.

10 Years "Dasuno für Huber & Lerner" - the Anniversary Collection

The motifs as usual tell their own story about Christmas. The 10th anniversary of this cooperation is a main focal point and is celebrated exuberantly in gold. A homage to Baroque and a life of decadence. The paper and gift tags tell the tale of the mishap of the little pug, who started a fire in a lady’s wig – the highlight of the current collection. This collection was mentioned in Lürzer's 200 Best Packaging Design Worldwide 2017/2018.
